Surveillance (Post Colonial Studies)
Motion Graphics piece as a visual representation of the term Surveillance in Post Colonial Studies. All of the 2D elements were created with Photoshop then animated in After Effects. Animation techniques used include expressions, keyframes, and nested compositions.
Surveillance Defined - One of the most powerful strategies of imperial dominance is that of surveillance, or observation, because it implies a viewer with an elevated vantage point, it suggests the power to process and understand that which is seen, and it objectifies and interpellates the colonized subject in a way that fixes its identity in relation to the surveyor.
I wanted to explore the concept of surveillance as an electronic vantage point rather than a physical one. As technology advances and becomes more useful (while also becoming more invasive) surveillance becomes much easier to enact.
